Frank Jarasch serves as the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Ambassador and Head of the Economic Section at the Permanent Mission of Germany to the United Nations in New York. In this role, he oversees critical areas such as sustainable development, humanitarian aid, climate and energy policy, global health, food security, education, and international trade and financing. Prior to this position, Jarasch led the International Law Section at the Federal Foreign Office (2017–2022) and headed the Political Section at Germany's UN Mission in Geneva (2014–2017), focusing on human rights, humanitarian law, and multilateral political processes. His extensive diplomatic career includes postings at the German Embassy in Riga and the German UN Mission in New York, where he worked on Security Council reform and peace building initiatives. Jarasch is an expert in international law, multilateral diplomacy, and global policymaking. His experience spans senior roles in the Federal Foreign Office and diplomatic missions, where he has addressed complex issues in law, human rights, and international relations. He holds a Master of Law from the University of Michigan Law School, Ann Arbor, and completed his legal studies in Heidelberg, Germany, and Lausanne, Switzerland. He is also qualified under both German and New York State bar exams.
