Reinier Koppelaar is Program Director at the Netherlands Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports of the Program on Ageing in Place (Langer Thuis). The program aims to strengthen conditions for a good quality of life for elderly persons living independently. The program focuses on 3 conditions: integrated healthcare delivery on the community level, supporting informal caregivers, and adequate housing conditions.
The Program is carried out under the Director-General of Long-term Care and has been adopted by 20 national associations representing municipalities, health insurance companies, housing corporations, healthcare providers and professionals, elderly people, informal caregivers, private enterprises, etc.
Before, Mr Koppelaar worked as head of the Strategy and research team at the Directorate for Macro-Economic and Labour Affairs of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports. Before that he was Policy Coordinator for Market Regulation at the same Ministry. From 2010-2014 he served as Counsellor for Health, Welfare and Sports at the Netherlands Embassy in Beijing, P.R. China. Under the Balkenende-IV administration (2007-2010), he served as Political Adviser to the Vice-Prime Minister and minister for Youth and Families, Mr André Rouvoet. He studied International Economics & Economic Geography at Utrecht University.
