Ryan Murray

Ryan A. Murray, a native Brooklynite who was raised in Barbados, is the Executive Deputy Commissioner and Chief Program Officer for the New York City Department for the Aging (NYC Aging). NYC Aging delivers services to help older adults safely age in place with dignity and remain engaged in society. The Agency is the largest Area Agency on Aging in the United States and advocates for the needs of 1.8 million diverse older New Yorkers and their caregivers. NYC Aging also mobilizes partners to combat ageism and works with all City Agencies to be inclusive in policy development, experience design and service delivery.  

Mr. Murray is a recognized change agent, team and capacity builder, and leader in government innovation, bringing nearly twenty-five years of expertise in social services to NYC Aging and its partners. He previously served in senior executive positions in government, including as deputy agency head of two New York City Agencies and deputy to the Mayor of Long Beach, California. Mr. Murray has led citywide civic transformation initiatives, advanced workforce and community development programs for vulnerable stakeholders, and nurtured entrepreneurship and public-private partnerships. He holds a Masters in Public Health degree from Hunter College, City University of New York (CUNY).
